Tiberius Stormwind
Tiberius Stormwind — “The Brimstone Sage”

“I have decided that I am a good man. I expect this to be sufficient.” — Tiberius, recovered diary, 808 P.D.
Public Memory
Dragonborn sorcerer. Vox Machina’s earliest member and earliest casualty. Died in 808 P.D., before Vox Machina escalated to its conquest phase, in an attack on Draconia he led ostensibly to liberate his homeland. Public canon paints him as a tragic figure — possibly a good man swept up in a bad cause too late to escape it. His statue stands quietly in a Draconian memorial garden that the Saviors did not destroy.
Whispered Truth
Tiberius is the most genuinely contested figure of the Fallen Machina. The Saviors disagree about him. Some — Lady Delilah, Vecna — believe he was sincere, naive, and would have broken from Vox Machina if he had lived to see what they became. Others — Dr. Ripley most notably — point out that he was already gleefully participating in atrocities by 807 P.D., and his “redemption” is just sympathy for a draconic-coded character with a charming voice.
Tiberius’s ring of three Wishes (the same ring Scanlan now carries; see Scanlan’s file) was the source of his power. He used two Wishes in life — one for personal apotheosis (failed) and one to undo a mistake (succeeded). The third he never used. Scanlan now holds it.
Stats & Build — if he returns
A returned Tiberius is the most narratively unstable option. The default campaign assumes he is dead, by his own choice, and stays that way.
If a cult attempts a return without knowing his last wish, the resurrection will fail in a baroque way: the body will animate but be empty. A Tier 2 horror arc can hinge on this — a Vox-Machinist cell raises a Tiberius-shell that does not have a soul, only the muscle memory of a sorcerer, casting spells without will. CR 8, terrifying because of what it isn’t.
If the DM wants a “successful” return: he comes back gentle, confused, and very willing to help the party stop the others. Treat as an NPC ally, not an antagonist.
- Tier 2 (level 8) ally variant.
- Class: Sorcerer (Draconic) 8.
- Signature gear: he kept very little. His staff is in the Draconian memorial garden. The third Wish ring is still on Scanlan’s finger.
Roleplay Hooks
- Voice: pompous, theatrical, fundamentally lonely. Imagine someone who learned their personality from books they read alone. He is funny without meaning to be.
- Soft spots: Draconia. The friends he left. The third Wish (he can sense it from any distance, faintly).
- Hard spots: any suggestion that his death was a defeat. (It was a victory, the only one any of Vox Machina won. But it sounds wrong out loud.)
